2.29. Check and adjustment of gaps of valves

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

The manufacturer recommends to adjust valves only in case of the increased noise from the valvate mechanism.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Warm up the engine.
2. Uncover a head of cylinders and install the piston of the 1st cylinder in compression step VMT (see subsection 3.1.3). Valves of the cylinder have to rock freely.
	3. Measure by the probe gaps in the valves specified illustrations. The probe has to pass between a yoke and a core of the valve under small effort.
	4. If the gap differs from norm, then turn off a lock-nut and, rotating the screw-driver the screw, establish the necessary gap.
5. Holding the screw the screw-driver, tighten a lock-nut and again check a gap.
	6. Put tags on a pulley of the crankshaft and on a forward cover. Turn the crankshaft on 1 turn before coincidence of tags, measure and if necessary adjust gaps in the valves specified illustrations.
7. Establish all removed details.
