Works are performed on the cold engine with observance of security measures (antifreeze is poisonous).


1. Before drawing a conclusion on malfunction of the thermostat check the liquid level, a condition of a belt of the pump and serviceability of the index of temperature (or a control lamp).
2. If the engine is long warmed (it can be determined by slow increase of temperature according to the index, or on slow heating of air by a heater), then sticking of the valve of the thermostat is a probable cause. In this case replace the thermostat.
3. At an overheat of the engine check heating of the top hose of a radiator. If the hose warm, and the engine hot, then the thermostat is closed, blocking access of liquid from the engine to a radiator. Replace the thermostat.


On cars with the injector engine driving without thermostat is forbidden. In the absence of the thermostat the chain of feedback of automatic control of systems of decrease in toxicity is disconnected and fuel system, profitability of the engine as a result falls.


1. Disconnect the battery from weight and merge liquid.
2. Disconnect vacuum hoses from the thermostat (if are provided).
3. Remove the thermostat case, the hose can be not disconnected from the case.
4. Get the thermostat, having paid attention to its orientation (the spring of the thermostat is turned to the engine).
5. Carefully remove old consolidation.
6. Replace laying (since 1993 laying keeps within on edge of the thermostat and represents a sealing ring with a flute), orient and install the thermostat.
7. Tighten bolts.
8. Fill in liquid, start the engine and be convinced of lack of a leak.
