3.2.6. Cam-shafts and pushers

GENERAL INFORMATION

Prevention

Before performance of work prepare two bolts with a carving of 6х1 mm and 16-20 mm long which will be used when dismantling as auxiliary (see below).


Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Uncover a head of cylinders (see subsection 3.2.3).
2. Install the piston of the 1st cylinder in compression step VMT. Make sure that dot tags (1) on the leader and conducted gear wheels of cam-shafts are combined and located on one line of the parallel demountable plane of a head of cylinders and covers, and tags (2) are turned in different directions. Otherwise check that with zero division of a scale it is combined risk of VMT of the crankshaft and turn the crankshaft on 1 turn.
3. Measure an axial side play of each of cam-shafts. If the side play exceeds maximum permissible, then the cam-shaft and (or) a head of the block of cylinders are subject to replacement.
4. Remove the ignition distributor (see subsection 3.4.6).
5. Turn off bolts of a cover of a natyazhitel (are specified by shooters).
6. Get a natyazhitel from a forward cover.
7. Designate a chain link opposite to a dot tag (are specified by shooters).
8. Turn off an asterisk bolt, holding a cam-shaft a key for special lysk.
9. Remove a distributor drive gear wheel. Carefully remove an asterisk (it is specified by an arrow) and a chain from a cam-shaft and leave them on guides.

CAM-SHAFT OF FINAL VALVES

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. At first remove a cam-shaft of final valves, previously having recorded a spring of an auxiliary gear wheel.
Prevention

Remove cam-shafts one by one, keeping their parallelism of the plane of a head of cylinders. Otherwise damage of inflow on a head of cylinders which provides a standard axial side play of a cam-shaft is possible.


2. For fixing of a spring turn a cam-shaft so that the technological opening under an auxiliary bolt was turned vertically up. Attach an auxiliary gear wheel to the main gear wheel in advance prepared bolt with a carving of M6 and 16-20 mm long.
3. Turn a cam-shaft of inlet valves so that tags (1) of gear wheels were displaced on a corner 35 ° rather horizontal axis.
4. Displace a cam-shaft back, gradually and evenly turn off bolts of a cover of necks of a cam-shaft of N1 (the sequence of removal of covers of basic necks of cam-shafts is specified by figures).
5. Carefully turn off bolts of covers 2, 3, 5 and 7, evenly releasing the left and right bolts. 4 and 6 not to turn off bolts of covers.
6. Carefully turn off bolts of covers 4 and 6, watching uniformity of a raising of a cam-shaft concerning the plane of a head of cylinders. If the cam-shaft is released with a distortion, then wrap bolts of covers 4 and 6, establish covers 1, 2, 3, 5 and 7 and repeat the procedure. Achieve parallel release of a cam-shaft.

CAM-SHAFT OF INLET VALVES

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Turn a cam-shaft of inlet valves so that tags (1) of gear wheels were displaced on a corner 25 ° rather horizontal axis.
2. Displace a cam-shaft forward, gradually and evenly turn off N1 cover bolts.
3. Carefully turn off bolts of covers 3, 4, 6 and 7, evenly releasing the left and right bolts. 2 and 5 not to turn off bolts of covers.
4. Carefully turn off bolts of covers 2 and 5, watching uniformity of a raising of a cam-shaft concerning the plane of a head of cylinders. If the cam-shaft is released with a distortion, then wrap bolts of covers 4 and 6, establish covers 1, 3, 4, 6 and 7 and repeat the procedure. Achieve parallel release of a cam-shaft. Remove a cam-shaft of inlet valves.
5. Wipe adjusting washers of pushers from oil, put tags with a marker and remove pushers and adjusting washers.
6. You store covers of basic necks, pushers and washers in that order in which these details were established.
7. Clamp an inlet cam-shaft in a vice for a six-sided neck. A key with two persistent pins turn an auxiliary gear wheel clockwise, then turn off the auxiliary bolt fixing the main and auxiliary gear wheel and carefully weaken effort, giving the chance to an auxiliary gear wheel to turn counterclockwise, before liberation of a spring.
8. Take a lock ring of an auxiliary gear wheel.
9. Remove a spring washer (1), an auxiliary gear wheel (2) and a spring of an auxiliary gear wheel (3).

Check

Installation of covers of basic necks of cam-shafts

Numbers and orientation arrows which have to be directed towards a forward part of the engine are applied on covers of basic necks of cam-shafts.

Definition of a gap in basic necks of cam-shafts

The gap in basic necks of cam-shafts is determined by width of the crushed plastic calibration wire.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Measure distance between the ends of a spring of an auxiliary gear wheel in a free state and compare to standard. If the distance differs from standard, then replace a spring.
2. Check a condition of pushers. Existence of chips and deep development is not allowed.
3. Check existence on basic necks and cams of a cam-shaft of wear tracks – grooves, poles, a navolakivaniye of metal and traces of an overheat (the painted sites of bluish color). Check existence on each cam of peeling of the tempered layer. Measure the size of each cam of a cam-shaft and compare to standard. If the size at least is less than one of cams standard, then a cam-shaft of a zamenite.metka a marker also remove pushers and adjusting washers.
4. Measure diameter of basic necks of a cam-shaft and compare to standard. If diameter at least is less than one basic neck standard, then replace a cam-shaft.
5. Check gaps in basic necks for each cam-shaft, having arrived as follows:

      – clear basic necks of a cam-shaft and cover of basic necks in solvent;
      – carefully lay a cam-shaft(s) in a head of the block of cylinders without pushers, adjusting washers and an auxiliary gear wheel. Availability of oil on necks is not allowed;
      – across each basic neck of a cam-shaft lay pieces of a plastic calibration wire;
      – establish covers of basic necks of cam-shafts so that shooters were directed towards a forward part of the engine (see rice. Installation of covers of basic necks of cam-shafts);
      – tighten bolts with the set moment turning each bolt on 1/4 turns at one time;

Prevention

The turn of a cam-shaft with the inserted plastic caliber is not allowed.


      – turn off bolts and uncover;
      – compare width of the crushed wire (in the widest place) to a scale on packing (see rice. Definition of a gap in basic necks of cam-shafts);
      – if the gap at least in one of necks exceeds norm, then the cam-shaft and (or) a head of the block of cylinders are subject to replacement;
      – scrape off a nail or a credit card the plastic remains, at the same time do not scratch a basic neck or an internal surface of a cover.
6. At temporarily established covers of basic necks check a gap in gearing of gear wheels of cam-shafts. Holding a key one of cam-shafts for a six-sided neck, check the size of movement of a gear wheel of other cam-shaft. Compare result to standard. If the gap is higher than norm, then replace both cam-shafts.

Installation

CAM-SHAFT OF INLET VALVES

Installation of a cam-shaft of inlet valves

 

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Grease and establish pushers and adjusting washers on former places, previously having greased with molybdenic lubricant.
2. Grease with molybdenic lubricant basic necks and cams of a cam-shaft. Grease a persistent part of a cam-shaft of inlet valves.
3. Establish a cam-shaft of inlet valves in a head of cylinders so that cams 1 and 4 were turned down.
4. Displace a cam-shaft forward and establish covers of basic necks 2 and 5, observing numbering and orientation of arrows which have to be directed towards a forward part of the engine.
5. Slightly tighten covers of basic necks 2 and 5.
6. Establish covers 3, 4, 6, 7 and, observing the sequence, slightly tighten bolts of covers before contact with a head of cylinders.
7. Establish a cover 1 and evenly tighten both bolts.
8. Tighten all bolts of covers with the set moment in several stages.

CAM-SHAFT OF FINAL VALVES

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Collect a cam-shaft of final valves with springs and an auxiliary gear wheel, fix all details by a lock ring.
2. Establish pushers and adjusting washers on former places, previously having greased with molybdenic lubricant.
3. Grease with molybdenic lubricant basic necks and cams of a cam-shaft.
4. Combine tags on gear wheels of cam-shafts (1 – combination). These tags have to be located on 180 ° concerning their situation at removal of cam-shafts.
5. It is necessary to consider that the design of gas distribution of the considered engine does not allow connections with a tightness. Bolts of covers should be tightened in this situation then the cam-shaft should be turned back to establish in the situation corresponding to VMT in which contact surfaces adjoin evenly, without obstacles from efforts of the springs operating on cams.
6. Turn a final cam-shaft on inlet and establish into place. Turn a cam-shaft in both parties to provide the correct landing in necks.
7. Establish a cover 4 and 6, observing numbering and orientation of arrows which have to be directed towards a chain.
8. Slightly tighten covers 4 and 6.
9. Establish covers 2, 3, 5, 7 and, observing the sequence, slightly tighten bolts of covers.
10. Establish a cover 1 and evenly tighten both bolts.
11. Tighten all bolts of covers with the set moment in several stages.
12. Turn cam-shafts so that the auxiliary bolt appeared above and turn out a bolt. Be convinced of smoothness of rotation of cam-shafts.
13. Expose cam-shafts so that the provision of tags corresponded to VMT. Make sure that dredging of a pulley of the crankshaft is combined with division of VMT of a scale.
14. Establish a chain with an asterisk, having checked coincidence of the tags put when dismantling. Tighten a bolt.
15. Establish a natyazhitel of a chain, having replaced laying. Press on a natyazhitel, turn and tighten nuts.
16. Establish other details upside-down. Adjust gaps in valves (see subsection 2.29).
