Acquisition of a new head of the block, than dismantling, check and repair of the head which was in operation is represented to more expedient.

1. For dismantling of a head of the block of cylinders it is necessary to remove yokes
with rollers, valves and the accompanying details.
2. The removed details should be stored in an order of their installation.
3. Squeeze a spring of the first valve by means of suitable adaptation and remove crackers. Carefully release a valve spring, remove a plate springs, a spring and a basic washer (if is available).
4. Get the valve and remove an oil scraper cap. If the valve does not go out of the plug, then polish a file a fillet about a valve end face.
5. Repeat the same actions for other valves.
6. Clear a head of cylinders and examine (it is recommended to make it after final dismantling of the engine).


1. Remove all remains of laying from demountable surfaces of a head, being careful not to damage a surface. Remove a deposit from combustion chambers, heads of valves and a scum from channels of cooling. Banish and clean all carving openings.
2. Carefully wash out solvent all details of the valvate mechanism, being careful not to damage them.
3. Process all carvings a tap or a die, wash out and blow compressed air.
4. Clear a bolt of an axis of a yoke and a hairpin a rigid brush.



1. Attentively examine a head, check existence of cracks and signs of penetration of cooling liquid. At detection of cracks replace a head.
2. Check deformation of a demountable surface of a head. If the deviation from the plane exceeds norm, then the head should be pereshlifovat.
3. Check a condition of saddles of valves. In the presence of pitting (poles), cracks, traces of a burn-out repair of a head in car service will be required.
4. Lower the valve approximately by 1,5 mm and check a core side play in the cross direction. If a half of a total side play on the indicator more exceeds norm (a standard gap in the plug), then the plug should be replaced (it is carried out in car service). At any signs of a doubtful condition of the plug they should be checked in car service.

Characteristic wear of an end face of the valve

1. Attentively examine valves, check existence on facets of valves of cracks, traces of uneven development, ablation of metal and a progar.
2. Check existence of cracks on necks and cores, and also a bend of cores, turning the valve in the directing plug (see rice. Places of check of wear of the valve).
3. Check wear of end faces of cores. Presence of any of the specified defects indicates the need of repair of valves (see rice. Characteristic wear of an end face of the valve).
4. Measure width of a regional corbel (1) of each valve and compare to standard value. If this distance is less than norm, then replace the valve.


1. Measure spring length in a free state. Replace springs with shrinkage. Before installation of springs it is necessary to check them for the repaired engine under loading at the special stand in car service.
2. Check wear and length of springs. Replace springs with shrinkage. Check elasticity of springs (it is carried out in car service).
3. Check vertical position of springs. At a deviation from a vertical replace a spring.
4. Check existence of visible wear tracks and cracks on plates of springs and crackers. Replace details with any defects.


1. Check existence on persistent surfaces of yokes of poles, traces of development, a metal navolakivaniye. Check also a condition of rollers of yokes and the spherical terminations of axes.
2. Check a condition of end faces of bars, existence on them of chips and traces of development. Check deformation of bars, having given a ride to them on sheet glass.
3. Replace strongly worn-out details.
4. If check shows that details of the valvate mechanism are worn-out, then collect a head and take to repare.

1. Before assembly. it is necessary to be convinced of purity of a head of the block irrespective of repairs of this detail in car service were made or not.
2. If the head of the block was under repair in car service, then measure spring height in the established state.
3. Establish all details of the valvate mechanism upside-down, having begun with oil scraper caps (see fig. of Napressovk of oil scraper caps). On a part of engines consolidations of umbrella type which are established only after installation of the valve are used.
4. Establish basic washers or laying, a spring, a glass and a plate.


Springs of valves of the engine 3F-E have color marking on which the spring is guided (see subsection 3.1.7).

5. Squeeze springs and establish crackers. Before assembly grease crackers for their temporary fixing.
6. Check spring height after assembly, i.e. distance from a basic washer to bottom edge of a plate (or the top surface of a glass). If height appears more norm, then establish additional basic washers.


It is forbidden to correct spring height selection of washers in case height is less than norm.
