7.2.2. Diagnostics of transmission
GENERAL INFORMATION
Prevention

Malfunction of the engine (loss of power), the wrong adjustments, refusals of hydraulic system of transmission, the mechanical drive and processor control system can be the main reasons for abnormal work of transmission. First of all it is necessary to check the level and a condition of liquid, to adjust drafts. If these measures do not result in positive result, then it is necessary to address to car service.

Preliminary checks

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Warm up transmission, having made a trip.
2. Check the level and a condition of liquid.
3. If level is lower than norm, then restore level and check existence of a leak (see below).
4. If level is higher than norm, then merge a part of liquid and check existence of pollution by cooling liquid which could get because of leak in a radiator.
5. If spumescence is found, then merge liquid and replace.
6. Check turns of idling of the engine. If necessary execute repair and adjust as further check of transmission does not make sense.
7. Believe adjustment and operation of the mechanical drive of transmission.

Check of a condition of transmission on liquid leak

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The liquid leak easily is established visually and is eliminated with replacement of epiploons or laying.
2. For detection of a slabozametny leak park the car after a trip on several km over the blank sheet of a cardboard or paper. About 2 min. later to flow it is possible to find.
3. Immediately clear a case and check a condition of consolidations in the suspected places.
4. If the leak thus is not found, then carefully wash out a case solvent and dry.
5. Make a trip and attentively examine a case.
6. If the place of a leak is established, then define the reason of a leak and a way of repair (for example, it is impossible to eliminate with replacement of laying a leak if the demountable planes of a sdeformirovana).
7. Before elimination of a leak analyse the leak reasons, provide elimination of the malfunctions described below.
Prevention

Some types of works on elimination of the following malfunctions can be executed only in car service as the special tool and a certain qualification is required.

LEAK FROM UNDER LAYING

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Periodically check a condition of the pallet of transmission, an inhaling of bolts, a condition of the demountable plane of the pallet and laying.
2. Increase in pressure or level of liquid owing to a contamination of air vents, deformations of the pallet or its demountable plane, discrepancy of the applied brand of sealant recommended of defects of casting of the pallet can be the leak reasons from under laying of the pallet.

LEAK FROM UNDER THE EPIPLOON

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The leak of an epiploon can be caused increases in pressure or level of liquid owing to a contamination of air vents, the wrong installation of an epiploon, injury of the condensed neck of a shaft or wear of the bearing.
2. Check periodically tightness of consolidation of a branch pipe of the index and a reducer of a speedometer.
3. At detection of a leak replace a sealing ring.

CASE LEAK

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The leak of a case is caused by defects of casting, in this case repair or replace a case.
2. Check reliability of fastening of hoses of a cooler of liquid.

LEAK FROM SAPUN OR FILLING BRANCH PIPE

The leak from a sapun indicates overflow of transmission, hit of cooling liquid, porosity of material of a case, the wrong provision of the index, a contamination of ventilating and drainage channels.

Tests in road conditions

TEST AT POSITION OF THE SELECTOR IN DRIVE RANGE

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Transfer the selector to the range of DRIVE and accelerate the car.
2. Switch the selector to provisions 1-2, 2-3 or 3-OD.
3. The hydrotransformer has to be blocked on the 1st or 2nd transfers, or on OD transfer. Press a pedal of a butterfly valve on 3/4 courses – there has to be a switching to a low gear.

TEST AT POSITION OF THE SELECTOR IN RANGE OF RANGE OF 2

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Transfer during the movement transmission to situation RANGE 2.
2. Transmission has to switch immediately to a low gear, the return switching in situation Overdrive should not be.
3. Check switching to a low gear at partial and full opening of a butterfly valve.

LOW RANGE

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Transfer the selector to position of LOW.
2. Check work of transmission.

Check of braking in the different modes of the movement

THE MOVEMENT BY THE SETUP AT INITIAL HIGH SPEED

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Transfer the selector to transfer of the lowered range.
2. Turns of the engine have to increase, the effect of braking has to be felt.

BACKING

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Transfer the selector to situation REVERSE.
2. Check work of transmission.

General checks

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check serviceability and adjustments of the engine.
2. Check adjustment of a cable of a butterfly valve.
3. Check a condition of hoses and conducting of transmission.
4. Check adjustment of the selector of transmission.
5. If after these checks abnormal work of transmission is still observed, then address to car service for check of pressure in the highway of transmission.
