5.2. Engines with fuel injection

GENERAL INFORMATION

Are a part of fuel system:

  – fuel tank;
  – the electric fuel pump (it is mounted in a tank);
  – main relay of system of injection and relay of the fuel pump;
  – nozzles;
  – fuel pressure regulator;
  – air filter;
  – case of a butterfly valve.

Cars of 1988-92 with the engine 3F-E are equipped with system of electronic injection of fuel (EFI system).

Cars since 1993 with the engine 1FZ-FE are equipped with advanced system of direct injection. The system of injection on later models differs in little changes of systems of regulation of pressure and monitoring a consumption of air.

SYSTEM OF ELECTRONIC INJECTION OF FUEL

In system of direct injection fuel is entered into each cylinder through nozzles. The processor block (ECM block) which sets duration of impulses (amount of fuel) in response to operates system of injection signaling from various sensors of the engine. The amount of air in gas mixture is set by a butterfly valve. Pressure of fuel is regulated by means of the vacuum distributive valve (VSV valve). On the heated-up engine the valve reduces fuel pressure at start and impoverishes mix. On late models control of the VSV valve of the obespechivayetsyaprotsessorny block, on early models – the special control system of launch of the heated-up engine (High Temperature Line-Up Pressure system).

FUEL PUMP AND HIGHWAYS

Circulation of fuel is provided with the electric pump through couple of steel tubes. Return of the evaporated fuel to a tank is provided with system of catching through a separate tube. The pump works at receipt of basic impulses from the ignition block on the processor block. In the absence of these impulses the pump is switched-off later 2–3 sec.

EXHAUST SYSTEM

The sensor of oxygen and 3-component converter which belongs to system of purification of exhaust gases in addition are a part of system and it is built in in an exhaust pipe for the purpose of decrease in toxicity of emissions.
