2.44. Gaps in valves on the engine 1FZ-FE

Check and adjustment

You carry out check and adjustment of gaps in valves on the engine 1FZ-FE through each 96000 km, or every 4 year.

Prevention

Valves on this engine are adjusted by selection of washers for thickness therefore special adaptation for an otzhatiya of pushers is required.

For adjustment of valves of the 6th cylinder it is required to remove cam-shafts. Therefore previously with special care check gaps in these valves.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect the battery from weight.
2. Turn out candles (see subsection 2.28), uncover a head of cylinders and install the piston of the 1st cylinder in compression step VMT.
3. Measure a gap between a cam of a cam-shaft and a pusher in the specified valves, writing down each result.
4. When checking gaps the probe of this thickness has to pass with small effort.
5. Turn the crankshaft on 1 turn concerning compression step VMT in the 1st cylinder and measure gaps in the valves specified illustrations.
6. Having measured gaps, turn the crankshaft so that the cam of a cam-shaft of the first adjustable valve was turned up.
7. Wring out a pusher and get an adjusting washer. For this purpose install adaptation so that the long jaw of pincers of adaptation took the lower inflow under a pusher, and short rested against the top edge of the pusher. Squeeze pincers, push a small emphasis of adaptation (or fasten a hook on handles of pincers), having recorded a pusher.
8. Remove pincers. Holding a pusher, get an adjusting washer the screw-driver (a photo at the left) or magnetic tweezers (a photo on the right).
9. Measure by a micrometer thickness of the removed adjusting washer.
10. Determine thickness of remote laying at which the gap in the valve will correspond to standard:
N= T+(A-V),
T – thickness of the removed adjusting washer,
And – the measured gap,
N – thickness of a new adjusting washer,
V – the required gap (see subsection 2.2).
11. The manufacturer in the spare part delivers adjusting washers of 17 dimensional groups. Pick up a washer so that thickness of the established adjusting washer was as it is possible closer to settlement. It is also possible to rearrange the washer suitable on thickness removed from a pusher of other valve in which gap demands adjustment. It reduces number of the acquired washers.
12. Wring out a pusher (see above) and establish a new adjusting washer.
13. Repeat the procedure for other washers which should be replaced. Establish all removed details upside-down.
